Enable Active X

The Institute of Children's Literature iChat site works best with Internet Explorer 5.5 or newer. If you want to take advantage of all the features of iChat, you must enable Active X in Windows.

Be sure to read Mary Beth Voelkers' complete article on using the Chat screens. Her document details the other options available to people who do not want to or can not use Internet Explorer or enable Active X.

Open Internet Explorer Click on the Blue on your task bar or navigate to it. Click Start Click Properties Select Internet Explorer
Once Internet Explorer is open, click on Tools.
Select Internet Options from the drop down menu.
The Internet Options window will open.
Click on the Security tab.
Click on the Internet icon
Click the Custom Level button
The Security Settings Window will open. For each Active X setting, choose *PROMPT*
Click OK to close security settings window
Click the Apply button on the internet options window
Click OK to close the Internet Options window.

That's it! You should now be able to use all the features of the ICL iChat site. Meet you at the Forum!
